Monstrosity

Hi everybody,

I'm feeling a bit better today. I'm still heavily medicated but I've been able to move my leg a bit more. However, makeup posts are out of the question for now. I have to walk with crutches for 6 weeks and since almost anything involving moving or not moving my leg hurts like a bitch, I'm just concentrating on the Things That Matter More Than Makeup (which sucks). I really miss looking like a human being but the knee is more important. I need to get mobile. I need to heal.

Okay, here are two pics of my mangled limb. I strongly advise you NOT to look at them if you think you're sensitive. I have a total of 4 scars on my leg, the smallest one is about 1-2cm and the largest is about 15cm. The thing is that what they were supposed to do was an operation that would've been performed through arthroscopy (sorry, if there's a typo) BUT before the operation my doctor had discovered that I had a small anatomical problem with the axis of my knee so they had to perform a more extensive surgery. I've had some bone cut off, I have steel screws in my bones and my hamstring have been re-organized a bit.

Yeah, when I first saw my leg I started crying. Not because of vanity but because I wasn't prepared. So I spent 10 minutes in the hospital shower washing my hair and crying my eyes out. Oh yeah, I'm tough.

So for now my life is about small victories. Such as being able to flex my knee or getting to sit down on a toilet seat in less than one minute. So if there's an olympic medal for this kind of stuff, let me know :)

Here comes the leg:

Joo, kyllä tää on jo vähemmän kipeä kuin eilen, mutta kipeä silti... Mä luotan lääkärin ammattitaitoon ja jumppaan jalkaa, ehkä se sit kuuden viikon päästä on jo ihan kelpo koipi :)

It looks like it hurts >.<

You're not wrong there. I'm eating two different kinds of painkillers, one twice a day, the other three times. They help a bit but make me sleepy.

Oh you poor lil munchkin! I want to give you many hugs :)

My brother had a similar sugery (at least I think he did?). He tore his ACL and they scraped some bone and put screws in. Do you have one of those giant casts that circulates ice through it? Oh, and this will make you smile...So Mike (my brother) was pretty much completed immobile for around a week after his surgery. He was sooo hungry and ended up eating FIVE POUNDS OF GUMMY BEARS. Do you know what happens when you eat 5 pounds of gummy bears? You can't poop. For a really, really, really long time. It was so funny, he was happy though cause he didn't have to move as much XD

Well, focus on getting better, but I'm so glad you kept us updated, I was worried! Take your pain pills and sleep, sleep, sleep! I hope your man is taking good care of you!!

Oh dear.. get better soon! When my dad got in a really bad car accident he broke his femur. Now he's an older guy in his late 50s, but what got him to heal right up at the rate of a child was because he ate a lot of bone soup my mom prepared for him. So I highly recommend considering that for a faster recovery! But yes, what is important is your small victories every day while you recover ^^

Lillian: Thank you :) Good wishes and kisses and hugs are always welcome <3

bohemian: Thank you, I'll try my best :) If the problem with your elbow persists, try to get an appointment to a specialist. I was told that my problem could be fixed with exercise but when the finally took MRI's of my knee, they noticed that operation was the only option. Get better!

Lisa Kate: Thanks, twin :) I don't have a cast. I just have gauze swabs over the scars and I have to change them every day. Haha, oh your poor brother! XD I was told to eat stuff that keeps my tummy operating because the meds make you constipated :P
I'm doing my post-op exercises. Unfortunately my male nurse is ill but he does what he can. Today I need to try to take a shower by myself... So much more exciting than the Olympic Games! XD

Kim: Thank you :) I'm trying to eat a lot of dairy products to get calcium. I also take vitamin D pills. I hope my bones will be strong.

SilhouetteScreams: Thanks :) At the moment, it looks more painful than it is. I mean, it IS painful but today I've been better than yesterday. I even managed to take a shower all on my own! Victory is mine! :D

Thanks Saila:)I had my second appointment with my ortho specialist yesterday. They took MRI about a month ago then he prescribed some meds.Yesterday he said it's gettin better but if I still have pain in next appointment which is next month, maybe we'll consider an operation.I hope it won't go that far:(

bohemian: I'm sending some positive, non-op vibes your way! If you do have to get surgery, just try thinking that at least it'll be to fix the problem. I've had problems with my knee for about 13 years and I just kept telling myself that I didn't want to be operated on. However, they found out that without the surgery my knee could be damaged beyond mending. But I'm glad your MRI was okay because that in part means that it could be just temporary thing. Get well soon and stay positive! :) *hugs*

My doc isn't a fan of surgery too that's what I'm counting on:) He said cysts can repeat itselfs so it's not a permanent treatment.thanks again for positive thoughts;)

I'm hoping you get back up and about real soon, after going through the rest and recovery period completely. I don't know you and have just found your blog, but if it's any help I'm helping hold your hand through this. Be strong!
