FOTD: Leif and Okapi

Fyrinnae has a cool section on their website where they give hints about colour combinations. One that caught my eye was using Leif with Okapi. Yesterday I rummaged through my makeup stash and found out that I have both colours. Cool! (I also found out that I have a serious problem with ordering new stuff and that I really should get more organized and sane.) Leif is like a bright forest green (like pine green) and Okapi is "rich mahogany burgundy with accents of gold". I also ended up using Platinum (a very interesting colour, like silvery gold), Dokkálfar ("black filled with hues of pale green to golden-lime sparkle", I think this colour is exquisite!) and Njordr ("Shimmery, complex green with a dark, almost black base and just a little gold & blue sparkle").

From top to bottom, from left to right: Okapi, Leif, Dokkálfar, Njordr, Platinum
FOTD: Leif and Okapi
Eyes:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance (as a primer on upper lids)
Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Leif (all over upper lid)
Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Okapi (outer vee, crease and outer corner of lower lashline)
Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Njordr (to blend Leif and Okapi together)
Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Platinum (as a highlighter below brow)
Fyrinnae eyeshadow in Dokkálfar (as a liner on upper lashline, used wet)
Lumene Blueberry Curl waterproof mascara in black (upper lashes)
Face:
Purely Cosmetics Skin Smoothing foundation in custom blend (two parts fair Maiden, one part Peaches N' Cream, one layer)
Meow Cosmetics Lost Rainforest Glow in Chameleon (between browbone and cheekbones)
Meow Cosmetics Lush Blush in Kiss-And-Tell
Lips:
Aromaleigh Gothic Lolita Color Creme in Cakewalk

I should really pay more attention to my brows... Yikes..

Leif is very bright green, almost jewel green. I had some problems with it because I wanted it to look even but I finally realized that it looked uneven because my lashes are so fair and that you could see the line between my lashes and my lid. Then I took Okapi and started working on the outer vee. By the time I got to doing my crease, I started to panic. It looked really dark. So I just had to blend like mad and that's when I decided to take Njordr and use it as a medium colour. At first, I was supposed to use Jade Ghost (a green-shaded off-white) as a highlighter but instead I picked Platinum. I think more green would've looked odd. Dokkálfar is a great liner colour! The sparkle is very pretty and catches the light beautifully.

Because the colours were so strong and dark, I instantly knew that I would use Purely Cosmtics' Skin Smoothing foundation because it makes my skin look so creamy. And as an added bonus, I didn't have to use a concealer! Choosing a blush was what almost got me. I KNEW I would have to use glow powder, so I settled for Chameleon but I was afraid that if I used a blush that was too red, I would end up looking like a harlot. Luckily Meow's Kiss-And-Tell was sitting on my batroom counter. It's a really nice peachy/coral shade that gives a natural glow. I matched my lips with it and used Cakewalk.

I'm happy with the results, I think the look isn't as dark as I was initially afraid it would be (compared to yesterday's look which was intentionally very dark).

BTW, Fyrinnae has come up with a Halloween collection that's on sale now! I already made my order and I'm picking up some purples... No surprise there! Actuallt, I think I ordered samples of everything except for Broken Doll (a matte lavender-pink) and Otherworld ("ghost" aqua). Also Diabolic Masquerade, the new very vampy lip lustre, was calling my name so that'll be mine, too. So be prepared for some Halloween looks in the future!

In the meantime, how do you like this look? Have you tried Leif and/or Okapi?

Pretty! I think I have both Leif and Okapi but haven't tried those together. It would be great to even remember which colors I have already... :P

Nea, I need to come up with an organized system like Phyrra has. She has info on all the makeup she has, including shade descriptions. Because when I went through my makeup last night, I went "oh, I have this?" like 100 times... :P

I haven't gotten those colors yet as I've only just started trying out Fyrinnae but they look amazing. Also, thanks for the heads up on their new collection too! I think I'm hooked on this company... my wallet's going to be pissed. ;X

Fyrinnae has amazing stuff, I've been very happy with them. I think they have the most gorgeous duochromes. My wallet's already pissed with me. "My name is Saila and I'm addicted to makeup" :D

You look gorgeous in these deeper colors. Your skin looks flawless, too :)

Thanks, Phyrra :) *hug*

Skin Smoothing foundation is always the one I grab when I want my skin to look silky. It's really a lifesaver. Meow's feels a bit lighter, though.

This combination looks amazing on you! I'm inspired to try Fyrinnae based on this post alone.

Would you mind linking to the section of the Fyrinnae website that suggests the colour combinations? Try as I might I can't seem to find it.

P.S. I found your blog via the Meow Cosmetics forums & I loved what you did with the Torch/Bromeliad/Mantis colour combination from the Lost Rainforest collection. I wore that look myself on the weekend and it looked great!

Thanks, Lucinda! I'm glad you found my blog - and I'm really flattered that you tried out my look! :)

Here's the link to the colour combination suggestions: http://www.fyrinnae.com/index.php?_a=viewDoc&docId=10

I agree, it's hard to find, you have to click on the 'cube' symbol on the bottom of the page. The suggestions are quite bold but very inspiring!
